Cancer staging is done for multiple reasons. This process determines the origin of the cancer, the extent of it, and the progression of the cancer to see if it has spread to other organs. Once this essential information is gathered, your doctors can then decide on a treatment program that best works for you. Cancer monitoring is done during your treatment program. It is performed every 3 to 6 months to monitor the response of your treatment program. Cancer staging and monitoring is an effective procedure because of its sensitive modality for tumor and lesion findings.
